After more than eight hours at the final day tables, partypoker sponsored World Poker Tour National Cyprus got a new champion. Atanas Kavrakov from Bulgaria went through the 172-enntry field to secure the title, trophy, Monster headphones and the €75,000 first-place payout.
Kavrakov reduced a small chip disadvantage in heads-up play against Iranian player Majid Ejlal Noubarian, battling back and seizing the title, when he flopped quad kings on the final hand. Noubarian was eliminated at the second place winning solid €52,300.
New Venue
For the first time, the World Poker Tour visited the stunning 5* Noah’s Ark Deluxe Hotel and Spa. Hotel is famous for having 600 out of its 616 spacious rooms facing the Mediterranean Sea. The same property has spacious poker room, next to elegant and luxorious casino. Some players referred casino’s interior similarity to Las Vegas venues.
Noah’s Ark also included few restaurants, café with traditional Turkish coffee and English-style bar. Players attending the event could enjoy full-board breakfast, lunch and dinner free of charge. They also had 24 hours access to both hot and cold drinks, together with fresh sandwiches and fruits in the players’ lounge area of the poker room.
Many players, partners and some members of staff enjoyed SPA facilities of the hotel. Gym and swimming pool were quite busy in the first parts of the tournament days, whilst professional massage available straight in the poker room.
