When the axe fell on Day 2 of the bwin WPT Merit Cyprus Classic it fell hard. The day started with 103 players and ended with just 31 players who had chips in a plastic bag heading for Day 3.
The man with more chips than everyone else is the man who was in charge at the end of Day 1A. Alexey Rybin started the day like he had a hangover, but finished with a crystal clear mind as he pulverized anybody that dared step into a pot with him. The Russian finished the day with 858,000 chips, over 300,000 more than anyone else.
Players also through to Day 3 are WPT Champions Club member Giacomo Fundaro (199k), Manig Loeser (185.5k) and the former Paris WPT Diamond Championship winner Natalya Nikitina (468k).
