Irvine, CA (January 5, 2022) World Poker Tour® Champions Club member Chad Eveslage topped the 2022 WPT® points leaderboard to become the Season XX Player of the Year after an exciting year-long race. Eveslage, a professional poker player living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, secured a second career WPT title and a third-place finish late in the season, edging out Steve Buckner for the POY title.

“Chad put on an impressive performance throughout the course of Season XX. His Player of the Year title is well deserved,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “It was a momentous 20th anniversary season for WPT, and Chad’s accomplishment will live on as a part of that legacy, as will the effort of all players throughout 2022.”

Eveslage finished with a total of 2,325 points, stemming from four cashes. The bulk of his total was earned at WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic in October, where he came out on top of a heads-up battle against Buckner. The result scored Eveslage $1,042,300 and 1,300 POY points.

The clash handed Buckner his second runner-up finish of the season, which placed him atop the leaderboard heading into the home stretch. However, Eveslage went on to take third place at WPT Seminole Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open in late November for 850 POY points and the number one spot.

“I’m honored to add my name to the list of players who have won WPT Player of the Year,” Eveslage said. “2022 was an amazing run for me and to add POY to my WPT title just made the year even more special. I can’t wait to get back in action and try to defend this title.”

Along with the title, the Indiana native also received a WPT Passport worth $15,000 that can be used to enter any Season XXI events and the prestigious WPT POY trophy. Likewise, second place earned a $10,000 Passport and third place earned a $5,000 Passport.

Rounding out the top-five, POY finishers were Buckner (2,275 points), Josh Kay (1,825 points), Ray Qartomy (1,775 points), and WPT Prime Championship winner Stephen Song (1,625 points).

Season XXI of the World Poker Tour begins in late January with WPT Prime Paris and the first WPT Main Tour stop, WPT Rolling Thunder, runs at the start of April.
