In just a few weeks, the World Poker Tour will roll into Philadelphia’s Parx Casino for the first time when the $3,500 buy-in WPT Parx Open Poker Classic kicks off on August 10, 2012. Joining World Poker Tour at Parx Casino for the first time, and at any WPT event for that matter, will be ClubWPT Qualifier Erick Steinbergen, who will join the field with many of poker’s biggest names who are expected to turn out.
The 32-year-old Correctional Sergeant was born and raised in New Albany, Indiana, and currently lives in Crestwood, Kentucky, with his girlfriend. A graduate of Vincennes University, Erick has been playing poker recreationally for about 5 years now but only signed up to be a ClubWPT member three months ago, turning his $19.95/month into a $5,000 WPT Parx Open Poker Classic package.
While modestly attributing his win on ClubWPT to luck, we’re sure there was more involved. As for how he feels about winning this event? He says his chances are “slim to none, but [he’s] leaving slim at home.” However, we’re betting there’s more to his game than he thinks.
Make sure to stay tuned to WPT Live Updates starting on August 10 to see how Erick fares, and sign up for ClubWPT now for your own chance to win a seat to a WPT event and the chance to get your name engraved the WPT Champions Cup.
