Action is underway on Day 4 of the World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic at Bellagio and longtime pro George Wolff is making a deep run. He returned to the field with 410,000 in chips and would be looking to work his shorter stack up throughout the day.
“It’s been pretty smooth sailing,” he said of his run so far in the Five Diamond. “I haven’t had a huge amount of chips, but I’ve just been making solid decisions.”
Wolff has $2.9 million in live tournament winnings with his biggest score coming in January 2020, when he finished runner-up in an Aussie Millions high roller event for $566,774. This becomes his third cash on the WPT, besting his best cash after finishing 24th at the WPT Venetian in May for $26,650.
Despite a smaller chip stack, don’t rule out a final table appearance for Wolff. At the World Series of Poker recently, he scored two final tables and is now hoping for more.
When not playing tournaments, Wolff lives in Portland, Oregon, with his dog and cat. He enjoys hiking in a state offering numerous outdoors activities.
“There are the most spectacular natural wonders in Oregon,” he says.
Only 29 players remain and Wolff is hoping he winds up among the final six playing for the title in front of television cameras tomorrow at HyperX Esports Arena. That would certainly be a meaningful experience for Wolff and a major bullet point on his poker resumé.
“To be honest, this is my favorite tournament,” he says. “It always has been. I love the Bellagio.”
