For the first time in over a decade, poker fans will have a chance to collect some of their favorite players’ trading cards, including autographs and inserts, courtesy of Leaf Trading Cards.
In conjunction with Poker Royalty, the Las Vegas-based poker representation agency, Leaf is set to release it’s fifth edition of poker trading cards and first since 2011. Scheduled to hit the market in 2024, the set of cards will feature 40 players including Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, and defending World Series of Poker Main Event champion Daniel Weinman.
“We are thrilled to announce this exciting project with Poker Royalty,” Josh Pankow, Vice President of Leaf Trading Cards, said via press release. “Our last project together was a decade ago and we both agreed it has been too long. Even better, we’ve already got Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, and Dan Weinman attached to this project. When this set is released, we will have a ton of great cards covering poker players from all eras including the newest players people are excited about.”
Previous Leaf poker trading card sets were first released in 2006 under the Razor Poker banner, with subsequent editions in 2009 and 2010. The most recent set, produced in 2011, fell under the Leaf Poker banner. The four previously released editions of Leaf Poker cards featured hundreds of poker players as well as poker-playing celebrities including Jason Alexander, the late Dr. Jerry Buss, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Brad Garrett, among others.
Beyond Hellmuth, Negreanu, and Weinman, the rest of the lineup for the upcoming 2024 Leaf Poker set is still to be announced.
‘Like a lot of kids, I collected sports cards growing up. To think I will have my own trading card is crazy to me and I’m really excited about it,” said Dan Weinman. “I remember seeing those poker cards years ago and seeing a Hellmuth, Negreanu, and a Tom Dwan card. Now Leaf is bringing this idea back with new players and someone out there will find my signed card.”
