World Poker Tour will once again be flying into Canada for a festival of poker offering up over CAD 5m in guarantees.

In partnership with partypoker LIVE, Montreal’s very own Playground Poker Club will enable players to take part in the WPT experience in one of the world’s best poker rooms across October 20-November 4 2019.

Chance your hand in the WPT Main Tour in a bid to join the prestigious WPT Champions Club, while also taking part in the popular WPT500 and WPTDeepStacks, as well as a full festival of events.

Montreal in October may not be a beach location like WPT offers up in America, but rest assured it’s a city full of modern vibes, entertainment, and activities! Check out what you can do in your downtime.

Architecture and City Views

S17 WPT Montreal

A walk through the streets of Montreal will see you explore a variety of neighborhoods and buildings. The architecture provides a juxtaposition of modern and old styles, which is rare to find.

Wherever you head to, taking a walk around the city’s streets is a must-do, and a perfect way to relax away from the poker action. Do remember to wrap up warm though, with average temperatures of just 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius).

For the best view on Montreal city, head to Mount Royal, which is one of the highest points. Mount Royal was used as inspiration for the naming of Montreal and alongside the magnificent view is the Mount Royal Chalet, which was constructed in 1932, and is still used to host large events.

Shopping & Cuisine

Montreal city center has an abundance of shopping hotspots, including high-end brands. Depending on which nation you are visiting WPT Montreal from, you may find that buying products in Canadian Dollars could prove to be a real bargain, with reasonable exchange rates against many currencies.

As part of the Quebec region, not only does Montreal have the Canadian classics such as Poutine (a dish which combines French fries, gravy and cheese curds) as well as many different maple syrups, but you can also try French taste sensations across the city with authentic food and great atmospheres in an abundance of quaint restaurants.

Don’t Get Scared Now!

S17 WPT Montreal players party

WPT Montreal falls over the holiday of Halloween which means it’s party time in the city! Check out the best bars, pubs, and clubs as they put together a spectacular like no other.

October 31 will see  La Voûte, one on Montreal’s highest-rated night clubs put on their annual Halloween Ball. Part of the party will include live actors, entertainment and of course, music from a collection of DJs.

If you were fortunate to visit WPT Montreal last year, you would remember precisely how Playground Poker Club brings the Halloween spirit to the tournament tables. Just once a year, the tournament dealers are allowed to don themselves in their favorite Halloween costumes, bringing even more fun to the action! It may feel strange seeing a zombie dealing your cards, but don’t worry and don’t lose your poker face.

Montreal Botanical Gardens

Unfortunately, the Montreal Botanical Gardens are currently closed for a full-scale renovation and not due to reopen until January 2020. The gardens showcase some of the world’s most magnificent sculptures all created from plants. However, with the holiday season approaching sections of the gardens will be open for guests from September 6 through October 31 for the annual Gardens of Light event, which features their unique displays enhanced with light installations and illuminations.
