Pro poker player Phil Ivey, who has a World Poker Tour title and nine WPT Final Tables to his name, left high-stakes poker behind on Monday afternoon, February 17, to spend some carefree hours having fun and interacting with learners at Nageng Primary School in Vosloorus, South Africa.

The WPT Champion, who played in last weekend’s $100,000 buy-in WPT Alpha8 Johannesburg poker tournament at Emperors Palace, was joined in distributing educational material to these Grade R learners at the school by his girlfriend, Nellie Garcia. The couple also interacted with learners in their classes, served lunch, and gave goodie bags to children who attend the Nageng Primary After Care Centre, one of nine centers situated in Ekurhuleni that are supported by the Peermont Childrens Trust, and gave afternoon meals and after school care to less fortunate learners from 22 schools.
