Corey Hochman Grabs Day 1B Chip Lead in WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble

It was another big turnout today, with 265 total entries pushing the overall total to 461 for the event, making for a $2 million-plus prize pool that more than doubles the event’s $1 million guarantee. Day 1B of the WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble followed a similar pattern to yesterday’s first Day 1 flight, with lots of excitement throughout the day thanks to the $2,500 bounties in play and a wild rush at the end dramatically determining the “chip leader bonus” of $5,000 for the Day 1B leader. Regarding the latter, a wild set-over-set-over-set hand at the very end of the night made Corey Hochman’s stack of 324,000 the biggest of the day.

Hochman’s big hand shot him ahead of Scott Lushing (278,700), Scott Efron (269,700), and Jamie Gold (265,000) to earn him the $5K prize plus a new pair of Monster headphones. Jason Helder remains the overall chip leader heading into tomorrow’s Day 2 after bagging 400,400 last night.

Speaking of those bounties, there were 19 of them in play today with just five making it through to tomorrow — Barry Shulman, Noah Schwartz, Sean Winter, Allison Hollander, and Andy Frankenberger. Meanwhile players whose bounties were collected today were Allyn Shulman, Blake Bohn, James Calderaro, Scotty Nguyen, Sean Cunix, Cornel Cimpan, David Williams, Lily Kiletto, Lisa Hamilton, Marvin Rettenmaier, Mike Linster, Mike Sexton, and Nabil Hirezi.

Thanks for following our coverage today, and be sure to return tomorrow starting at 12 noon to see what happens with the 15 total bounties left in the event, and who best positions themselves to make a run at the WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble title.
