Day 1 has come to a close at the partypoker WPT Fallsview Poker Classic and 132 players have advanced to Day 2 from the 423 total entries in the tournament. The chip leader at the end of play is Rob Forbes from nearby Burlington, Ontario. He bagged up 349,700 at the end of play thanks to a surge after the dinner break. Other top stacks were bagged up by Alexis Gavin (281,600), Randy Pfeifer (276,800), Shane Brotherwoord (239,700), and Daniel Watton (200,200).

Familiar faces still in hunt include Xuan Liu, Will Failla, Peter Jetten, Aaron Mermelstein, Ben Tarzia, Mike McDonald, Mike Watson, Ryan Franklin, Olivier Busquet, Nicholas Palma, Sam Chartier, Jason Sagle, and Season V Fallsview Casino event champion Soren Turkewitsch.

Notables that hit the rail today include Hublot WPT Player of the Year leader Cate Hall, Darren Elias, Jake Schwartz, Harrison Gimbel, Joe McKeehen, Marvin Rettenmaier, Stan Jablonski, Curt Kohlberg, Steve Buckner, and defending WPT Fallsview Poker Classic champion Anthony Zinno.

The prize pool was set today at $1,907,544 CAD thanks to a larger turnout than last year. The top 54 players will take home at least $8,775 CAD, and the champion will take home $383,407 CAD at the end of the final table on Wednesday.
