Richard Harris traveled to Dusk Till Dawn “just for a bit of fun” he says, and didn’t expect much when he entered the £1 million guaranteed partypoker presents: WPT500 at Dusk Till Dawn.

Well, on Tuesday, Harris was the last player standing from the 1,616-entry field, winning $234,594 and a seat in the partypoker WPT UK Main Event.

Harris entered the final table as the chip leader, and on the final hand of the tournament he called an all-in bet from Yani Yanev on a flop of  9c7sTs, holding JsJh. Yanev turned over 6c7d, the turn and river came 4dJd respectively, and Harris was crowned the champion.

Yanev earned $142,113 for his runner-up finish.

“I just can’t believe how quickly it went. The final was a blur. It’s great!” exclaimed Harris. “I’ll be going home to Gower Holiday Village in Wales and spoiling the family.”

On the October 24, the partypoker presents: WPT500 started at the Aspers Casino in London with three Day 1’s. Players also had the possibility to qualify on the partypoker platform from October 26-29, and the WPT500 then moved to Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham for five Day 1’s, with more than 900 players join the competition.

Many notable players took part in the event; defending champion Eleonor Gudger, Leo McClean, Paul Jackson, Alex Goulder, Chin Chai Koh, and Ben Winsor.
