WPT National Georgia

For the second time this year, World Poker Tour teamed up with Poker Club Management in the capital city of Georgia, Tbilisi. Europe-bet.com Poker Room welcomed players from all over the world for the nine-day long WPT National Georgia festival highlighted by the $1,000 buy-in Main Event.

All events, including the Main Event, doubled and in some cases even tripled all the original guarantees. The overall festival guarantee of  $200,000 nearly reached $500,000, thanks to the “rake-free” offer for participants.

Main Event increased 56 entries from earlier in 2015, generating a $243,000 prize pool. Valentin Smilenko made his live tournament debut in Georgia and captured the top prize, earning $57,180, the crystal WPT National Main Event trophy.

Both Revaz Gudzhabidze (runner-up) and Valentin Smilenko started their final table among the chip leaders. There was no big surprise, when they met in heads up, but match only lasted 15 minutes. Revaz pushed all preflop with Q-10, and Valentin called with a dominating A-Q. The board showed 3-8-Q-4-J, concluding the 13 hours-long final day.

“At the final table I was lucky with my seat, as I had the better position over my main opponent. I met him in the heads-up and was lucky that cooler was brought out,” said Smilenko after the win.
