Day 3 of this four-day tournament started with 27 players remaining and Sternberg in front. Mark Sandness started out the eliminations in 27th place, followed by WPT Champions Club members Pat Lyons (23rd), Will “The Thrill” Failla (18th), Harrison Gimbel (17th), Yevgeniy Timoshenko (12th), and Jake Cody (11th) to cut the tournament down to its final 10.

The elimination of Lyons in 23rd sealed the deal for Benjamin Zamani to be crowned Hublot WPT Player of the Year for Season XV. Zamani will be awarded with a custom watch from Hublot, official timekeeper and official watch of the World Poker Tour, plus complimentary accommodation for any WPT stop he attends in Season XVI. Zamani finished the season with 2,550 points, narrowly edging out Sam Panzica’s 2,500.

With 10 players left in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker $10,000 Finale, three WPT Champions remained, including Sternberg. The other two were Jonathan  Jaffe and Marvin Rettenmaier.

After Ken Einiger busted in 10th place, Rettenmaier fell in ninth. Rettenmaier, a two-time World Poker Tour champion, was eliminated by Sternberg. Sternberg then busted Jaffe in eighth place, and it was time for the official final table bubble.

Falling in seventh place and ending play for the night was Josh Kay, eliminated by Josephy when his Heart 10Club 10 ran into the Spade QDiamond Q. Kay took home $109,412 for his efforts, and the official final table was set.

Each of the six remaining players have locked up $130,370 in prize money, but all eyes are on the $716,088 top prize and WPT title. The final six will have a day off on Wednesday, as the final table of the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown $3,500 Championship will play out. On Thursday at 12 p.m. ET, Sternberg, Riess, West, Josephy, Schumacher, and Koon will return to play for the title.
