The second starting flight of the Season XV World Poker Tour® Maryland Live! $3,500 Main Event was even bigger than the first, attracting 280 entries. When the day was done on Sunday, just over 100 of them remained with John Sargent in the lead.
Sargent bagged up an impressive 324,300 in chips and will be the overall leader heading into Monday’s Day 2.
Others who finished with a hefty pile of chips on Sunday were two WPT Champions Club members, Brian Altman and Darren Elias. Altman bagged up 216,500 in chips, and Elias finished on 170,200.
A third member of the WPT Champions Club that was in the field on Sunday was Aaron Mermelstein, the event’s defending champion. Mermelstein advanced with an above-average stack of 106,500 in chips.
