After four days of action-packer poker, a champion was crowned on Sunday night in the partypoker WPT® National Ireland Main Event. Richard Lawlor topped the 260-entry field to win €65,000 and the right to call himself a WPT National champion.

Season XV WPT National Ireland Final Table

1st: Richard Lawlor – €65,000
2nd: Alan Kelleher – €42,500
3rd: Raymond Masters – €27,500
4th: Dara O’Kearney – €20,000
5th: David Masters – €15,000
6th: Laurence Ryan – €12,000

On the final day of play, Tony Dunst and Natalia Breviglieri, both partypoker ambassadors and Dunst a member of the WPT family, remained in the field of the final 14 players. Dunst wound up busting first on the day in 14th place, and Breviglieri was next out the door in 13th. Dunst busted with his pocket twos couldn’t come from behind the pocket kings of David Masters.

A bit later, Eric Doyle was eliminated in seventh place to set up the final table of six. At this point, the father-son duo of Raymond and David Masters were still alive looking to do the unthinkable.

David, the son, fell in fifth place, and Raymond, the father, fell in third place.

When heads-up play began, Lawlor had the lead with 5.66 million in chips to Kelleher’s 2.14 million. The two have been friends for eight years and constantly playing against one another over the years. On this day at INEC Killarney, they were heads up for a WPT National title.

Lawlor defeated Kelleher in heads-up play to take the title and earn the largest payday of his live poker career. On the final hand on the tournament, Kelleher was all in with the Heart AClub 6 against the Club KSpade 2 for Lawlor. The flop, turn, and river ran out Diamond KDiamond JClub 9Club 2Spade A to give Lawlor the win with two pair.

Next up on the WPT National tour is the PMU.fr WPT National Marrakech festival starting Sept. 24 at Casino De Marrakech. For more details on this stop, click here.
