Perry, son of longtime poker pro Ralph Perry, turned 21 the day this event started, making this run one for the ages.

“I’ve been telling people for the past six months that this is my tournament and now, they are believing it,” Perry said. “I’m fairly confident and I’m playing to win. Confident in my game and the chips I have.”

He bagged up a stack of 7.65 million in chips thanks large in part to a big bluff he pulled off at the end of the night against Mike Del Vecchio and Ryan Tosoc. Perry fired the flop and turn before shoving the river with just eight high. His play got his opponents to fold and Perry smiled as he showed what he got away with.

Reaching the WPT Five Diamond final table for the second year in a row is Ryan Tosoc. Last season, Tosoc finished second to James Romero for more than $1.1 million. He’s back in the final six this year, again in a record-breaking field, and has a one-in-three shot at winning another seven figures.

“I feel so confident playing here,” Tosoc said of Bellagio. “It doesn’t matter what I have during a hand, I just feel locked in when I’m here.”

Tosoc takes 5.105 million into Sunday’s finale.

To set the final table, Del Vecchio took out Daniel Zack in seventh place. Zack went all in with ace-queen, but he ran into the ace-king of Del Vecchio to fall in seventh for $208,725. Del Vecchio finished with 4.97 million in chips and is the only WPT Champions Club member remaining.

In addition to Perry, Tosoc, and Del Vecchio, the Season XVI WPT Five Diamond final table features Ajay Chabra (3.065 million), Richard Kirsch (2.62 million), and Alex Foxen (955,000).

When Day 5 began, 18 players remaining from the record field of 812 entries. First to go was Roman Korenev, and then notable eliminations were had by Blake John (13th – $61,436), Dan Colman (14th – $61,436), and Michael Ruane (15th – $61,436).

Lauren Roberts advanced to Day 5 and was looking to better her seventh-place finish in this event from Season XIV, but she ultimately fell short in eighth. After running into the quads of Del Vecchio to be left severely short, Roberts was eliminated by Chabra shortly thereafter in eighth place for $153,590.

The final six players will return to action at 4 p.m. PT on Sunday to play for the $1.958 million top prize. The winner will also earn a luxurious Hublot Big Bang Steel watch and a $5,000 membership from JetSmarter. Included in the winner’s prize is a $15,000 seat into the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions.

Along with this event being filmed for broadcast as part of the WPT’s Season XVI schedule, the final table will be streamed on PokerGO starting at 4:30 p.m. PT, plus you’ll be able to find continued coverage right here on WPT.com.
