Los Angeles, CA (May 26, 2018) – World Poker Tour® today announced the first half of its Season XVII schedule. The events announced will take the tour through the 2018 calendar year. The schedule features eight WPT® Main Tour stops, including a brand new event at The Gardens Casino in California to kick off Season XVII and a new location for WPT500 Los Angeles.

“As the WPT closes out a historic 16th season, the World Poker Tour is proud to announce the 2018 leg of the Season XVII schedule,” Adam Pliska, CEO of the World Poker Tour, said. “Season XVI was our most tremendous season yet. We held our first-ever stops in Beijing, Japan, and South America, returned a televised WPT Main Tour event to Europe, and broke ground in the burgeoning region of India. Additionally, the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic drew a record-setting field for the second consecutive year, Art Papazyan won two WPT titles en route to winning the Hublot WPT Player of the Year award, Darren Elias won an unprecedented fourth WPT title, and the World Poker Tour awarded its one-billionth prize dollar. The bar has never been higher for the WPT, and we look forward to even greater success this upcoming season.”

Season XVII of the WPT Main Tour kicks off in July at the Gardens Casino in Hawaiian Gardens, California, with the WPT Gardens Poker Festival. The brand new festival features the WPT Gardens Poker Festival Main Event, with a buy-in of $5,000, as the Gardens Casino ups the ante from hosting last year’s WPT500 Los Angeles tournament. The WPT Gardens Poker Festival Main Event will be the first major tournament to take place in the upgraded Gardens Casino ballroom space and runs July 21-26.

Following the WPT Gardens Poker Festival, the World Poker Tour heads to Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma, for the popular WPT Choctaw. The WPT Choctaw Main Event runs from August 3-7, and features a buy-in of $3,700.  This popular Main Tour stop attracted a booming field of 924 entries last year.

Taking place August 18-27, WPT500 Los Angeles will take place at the Bicycle Hotel & Casino in Bell Gardens, California. With an accessible price point of $570, WPT500 Los Angeles boasts a big guarantee of $1 million.

In September, it’s cross country to Atlantic City, New Jersey, for the WPT Borgata Poker Open. Scheduled for September 16-21, the $3,500 buy-in event returns to Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa where it’s known for its four-figure field sizes. Last season, the WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship attracted 1,132 entries.

September continues its jam-packed schedule of WPT events on the east coast with WPT Maryland at Live! Casino on September 21-25. Just a short trip down from Atlantic City to Hanover, Maryland, WPT Maryland at Live! Casino’s $3,500 buy-in Main Event is the perfect next stop on the WPT Main Tour schedule.

The next two events on the Season XVII schedule take the WPT to Florida, and first up is the WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble on October 20-24 at bestbet Poker, Simulcast & Racing in Jacksonville, Florida. This unique, $5,000 buy-in event attracts some of the game’s biggest names and allows for players to win bounty prizes for knocking out select competitors.

After Jacksonville is a stop in Hollywood, Florida for the WPT Seminole Rock N Roll Poker Open at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. There is never a shortage of booming field sizes in South Florida, and once again the stage is set for the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to deliver. The $3,500 buy-in event runs November 23-28.

Closing out 2018 of the Season XVII WPT schedule is the famed WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic. The iconic Bellagio in fabulous Las Vegas plays host to the $10,400 buy-in event. The WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic is coming off two straight seasons of record-setting field sizes. In each of those past two seasons, first place has won more than $1.9 million and the top two spots have earned more than $1 million.
