After two starting flights, the returning field of 50 players was down to the final table by 8 p.m. local time. From there, the action was fast, starting with a double-elimination hand that took out Rosario Simone (9th place) and William Tonking (8th place). Randy Spain then fell in seventh on the very next hand, and a few hands later it was Steve Karp out in sixth.

There was a series of double ups that took place over the next hour before Steve Trizis fell in fifth, and Manelic “Manny” Manaya (4th place) and Jeff Pringle (3rd place) followed him out the door to leave a heads-up final between Trent Baker and Nathan Papp. Heading into the duel, Papp had the chip lead.

Baker was able to double up once, but the next time he was all in proved to be his last. Baker held the Diamond 6Diamond 5 on the final hand, and Papp had him covered holding the Club AClub 9. The board ran out Heart 8Heart 7Diamond 7Spade KSpade J and Baker was out in second, earning $40,638.

With the victory, Papp took home $68,959 in prize money along with a WPTDeepStacks $3,000 Championship package. He also received a WPTDeepStacks trophy and a $5,000 seat, provided by the Seminole Hard Rock, in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Main Event next August.
