The first World Poker Tour event ever held in Quebec kicked off this morning at 11 ET and, with 465 players already registered as Level 2 comes to a close, it looks like the event will be pushing the sellout number of 500 entrants by the time registration closes at the end of Level 4.

The WPT Montreal Main Event, hosted at Playground Poker Club, features a buy-in of $3,300 (CAD), and players that bust on Day 1A will be allowed to re-enter on Day 1B on Saturday. A large field was expected for the WPT’s return to Canada for the first time since Season VII when Glen Witmer won the North American Poker Championship (and $1,090,224) at Niagara Falls in Ontario. Other previous WPT champions crowned in Canada include Scott Clements and Soren Turkewitsch.

There’s no shortage of notable players sitting at the tables today, looking to take advantage of an early start and the ability to re-enter on Day 1B if need be. Here’s a quick glance around the room:

Tristan Wade, Peter Jetten, Michael McDonald, Jonathan Plens, Marc Karam, WPT Raw Deal analyst Tony Dunst, Joseph Cheong, Michael Burnitz, Allen Kessler, Michael Watson, Erik Cajelais, Daniel Negreanu and former WSOP Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel.

And here are some stacked tables of note:

Table 38: Joe Serock & WPT Season X One to Watch Xuan Liu

Table 50: Dominik Nitsche & Ahn Van Nguyen

Table 56: Scott Montgomery, WPT Season XI One to Watch Jason Koon & Micah Raskin

Table 60: WPT Champion Marvin Rettenmaier, Ben Hamnett & WPT Season XI One to Watch Amanda Musumeci

Make sure to keep up with all of the action with WPT Live Updates and WPT Raw Deal analyst Tony Dunst will host a Live Stream of the final table action at www.WorldPokerTour.com starting at 4:30pm ET on Tuesday, November 27. The Live Stream will also be broadcast in French at www.CanadaPoker.com.
