Las Vegas, NV (October 27, 2022) – The WPT® World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas announces the 20-day festival’s opening event, the “The Premier Meet-Up Game: WPT Poker Icons Experience” (MUG). World Poker Tour® Ambassadors Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme will spearhead the meet-up game, which is stacked with special appearances from world-renowned DJ Steve Aoki, poker legend Doyle Brunson, and other notable guests, including Vince Van Patten, Lynn Gilmartin, Tony Dunst and Matt Savage.
“I can think of no better way to kick off the World Championship Festival than with a genuine experience for the players,” stated Adam Pliska, WPT CEO. “We are happy to have our talent and ambassadors welcoming players to the grand opening of the 20th-anniversary celebration of the World Poker Tour.”
Award-winning poker vlogger and professional poker player Brad Owen joined the WPT family as an official Ambassador in April of 2022, followed by fellow professional poker player and vlogging personality Andrew Neeme, one month later. Since then, the content-creating duo have advocated and followed the tour, attending and hosting WPT events around the world, including their famous meet-up games.
“Our recent MUG in Las Vegas was a big hit. Thanks go out to everyone that showed up, fans, players, and our fellow ambassador Steve Aoki,” said Owen. “I’m looking forward to mixing up with Steve again when we do it even bigger in December.”
The Premier Meet-Up Game is set for Thursday, Dec. 1, running alongside the opening tournament of the festival – which is a $600 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event with a $500,000 guarantee. During the MUG, Wynn Las Vegas has earmarked 26 tables to host a variety of cash games, including $1-3 and $2-5 No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) open to all.
“We’re always looking to grow the scope of our meet-up games and the World Championship is the perfect opportunity for us to get everyone involved,” said Neeme. “The Premier Meet-Up Game is going to be a blast, with players from around the world joining in.”
The MUG officially kicks off at 10 a.m. Dec. 1, with first-come, first-serve seating starting at 8 a.m.
