Yesterday, Day 2 of WPT Regional: STAX Poker Lounge Fall Poker Classic began at 1:00pm ET at Level 12 with 50 players remaining out of the three starting days, Days 1A, 1B and 1C. Just four levels and a little more than four hours later, 40 players had been eliminated and the final table was set. However, from there play ground to a halt and final table play proceeded very slowly until another seven hours later, Stewart Newman was awarded 1st place and the WPT trophy.

As chip leader throughout the majority of the final table, it was only fitting that Stewart be awarded 1st place and the WPT trophy. Stewart is a native of Tampa, Florida and has been playing poker ever since he could remember. He has cashed in a couple of side events at previous Coconut Creek tournaments. He’s a Florida poker regular who played in a previous WPT event at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. As far as what he will do with his earnings, he said that he will most likely just keep playing poker.

The top four payouts were as follows:

1) Stewart Newman – $28,012 + WPT trophy
2) Roberto Alberro – $22,100
3) Ryan Garitta – $22,073
4) Jonathan Marks – $18,940

The next stop for the WPT Regional & National Series is at WPT National Gruissan at Casino Le Phoebus in Gruissan, France, for a €1,650 (Re-Entry) tournament that begins this Thursday, November 8, at 1pm local time.
