The opening weekend of WPTDeepStacks Online was a strong one on the global partypoker online poker platform, and we have our first winners of the series in the $215 Opener and the $22 Mini Opener. We also saw the opening flights of the $1,100 WPTDeepStacks Online Main Event and the $109 Mini Main Event, and the mid-week action is in the $109 Turbo Knockout and the $11 Mini Turbo Knockout.


Aleksandr Zhilin Wins Event #1, the $215 Opener

There were eight starting flights for Event #1 ($215 Opener), and there were 1,125 entries to create a total prizepool of $225,000. There were 168 players who advanced to Day 2, where they earned at least $437 each, and they played down to a winner that day.

Austrians made a strong showing at the final table, with three players from Austria in the final four, but it was Aleksandr Zhilin of Russia who came out on top to win $37,047 and a trophy. Here are the top five finishers:

Dominic Burn Wins Event #2, the $22 Mini Opener

With a schedule that mirrored the Opener, there were 3,875 entries for Event #2 ($22 Mini Opener), generating a total prizepool of $77,500. There were 577 players who finished in the money and advanced to Day 2, earning at least $44 each.

Dominic Burn of the United Kingdom was the last player standing to win $11,272 and a trophy. Here are the top five finishers:

Flight 1A of the $1,100 WPTDeepStacks Online Main Event Ends with Michael Skenička Leading 36 Players

Sunday was the first of four starting flights for Event #3, the $1,100 WPTDeepStacks Online Main Event, and there were 238 entries to put $238,000 into the prizepool on its way to the $1 million guarantee.

The final 36 players (15% of the field) survived the Money Bubble and advanced to Day 2, which will be played Monday, October 25th at 20:05 GMT. Here are the top five players on the leaderboard from Flight 1A:

1. Michael Skenička (Czech Republic) – 4.69 million
2. Ramiro Petrone (Argentina) – 4.28 million
3. Jerry Ödeen (Sweden) – 3.13 million
4. Bruno Volkmann (Brazil) – 3.05 million

Flight 1A of the $109 Mini Main Event Ends with Benjamin Mordan Leading 53 Players

Event #4, the $109 Mini Main Event, also kicked off on Sunday with its opening flight, and 353 entries deposited $35,300 into the prizepool on its way to the $200,000 guarantee.

The final 53 players (15% of the field) finished in the money and advanced to Day 2, which will be played on Monday, October 25th. Here are the top five players from Flight 1A:

1. Benjamin Mordan (Belgium) – 5.0 million
2. Sebastien Jung (U.K.) – 4.82 million
3. John Glackin (Ireland) – 4.28 million
4. Aki Virtanen (Finland) – 3.60 million
5. Patrice Brandt (U.K.) – 3.33 million

Still Plenty of Flights to Enter the $109 Turbo Knockout and $11 Mini Turbo Knockout

In addition to the Main Event and the Mini Main Event, Sunday also saw the opening flights of Event #5 ($109 Turbo Knockout) and Event #6 ($11 Mini Turbo Knockout). However, unlike the Main Event and the Mini Main Event, these Turbo Knockouts will be running 3-4 flights each day on their way to Day 2, which will play down to a winner on Monday, October 18th at 20:05 GMT.

These are both bounty tournaments, with half of the prizepool in bounties — $50 bounties in Event #5 and $5 bounties in Event #6. Within each starting flight, the final 15% of the field advances to Day 2, where they will be in the money.

The $109 Turbo Knockout has attracted 652 entries so far, with $65,200 in the prizepool. It’s still early in the starting flights, and the total prizepool is guaranteed to be worth at least $300,000.

The $11 Mini Turbo Knockout is up to 3,023 entries so far, with $30,230 in the prizepool. The total prizepool is guaranteed to be worth at least $100,000.
