It’s a new massive career-high score for nosebleed tournament pro Timothy Adams after he outlasted the 151 entries of the 2023 Triton Super High Roller Series London Main Event to lock up the event’s $4,185,000 first-place prize.
The victory marks Adams’ second career Triton title, his 11th cash on the tour, and gives him more than $13 million of his career $36,727,006 earned in Triton events. The new seven-figure score also pushes Adams into 15th on poker’s All-Time Money List as well, surpassing Jake Schindler and sitting behind Steve O’ Dwyer.
“It was a battle heads-up,” Adams said immediately after the win on the Triton Poker livestream. “I mean, Jean-Noel [Thorel], hats off to him. He’s an insane competitor, super tough to play against. There’s no wonder why he makes so many final tables with big stacks.”
On the final hand, Adams held a slight chip lead over his heads-up opponent, entrepreneur Jean-Noel Thorel. Thorel picked up pocket nines as Adams looked down at pocket eights. The pair got all the chips in the middle pre-flop and when the cards were on their back, one could hear a discernible sigh from Adams as he saw the bad news.
However, any disappointment Adams may have felt was replaced with relief as the board ran out 
…and finally the 
on the river. With that river card, Adams won his second career Triton Main Event title, the oversized trophy, and the largest cash of his career.
“When we got all-in, it was a bit of a cooler. He had nines, I had eights and I thought maybe that was it for me,” he continued. “I couldn’t believe it, I just smashed the eight on the river. It was…insane.”
When that eight hit the river it looked as if a flood of emotions also hit Adams.
“What an emotional moment for Tim Adams,” said commentator Ali Nejad. “You can see it on his face.”
Stunned, Adams made the rounds giving hugs to Thorel as well as his support system on the rail of Seth Davies and Lucas Greenwood.
The final hand was not the only stunner of the final table as it was a four-hour affair full of superstars and incredible play. Stephen Chidwick, Isaac Haxton, and Daniel Cates all had a seat as did Doug Polk (9th – $422,500) and James Chen (7th – $705,000), coming off his final table appearance in the $250K Triton Poker London Luxon Invitational. It was after the elimination of Chen that another much-talked-about hand went down.
