The World Poker Tour invaded the Sunshine State last weekend by running not one, but two, individual WPT Regional tournaments on opposite sides of the state.

In Tampa, 146 players each put up $2,000 for the chance to claim the title of WPT Regional Florida Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Bay Open Champion. Long title notwithstanding, the event’s eventual winner, David Deboer, also walked away from the final table with something a little easier to say – cash. $128,000, to be exact.

Not bad for a weekend’s worth of “work.”

Meanwhile, on the Atlantic Coast, a whopping 947 players made their way to the WPT Regional Florida STAX Poker Lounge Summer Series at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek where they created a prize pool worth more than $371,000 and competed for first-place prize money of $91,900. 90 players made the money in this hard-fought event, but only one could claim the championship. In the end, that honor went to Bryan Morton who walked away with the champion’s trophy and a nicely boosted bankroll.

To claim one of these titles for yourself, be sure to check out World Poker Tour’s full Regional and National schedule, including the WPT National Series Madrid running from June 28-July 2 and the WPT Regional Florida Derby Lane Rebound Series from July 13-15 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
