Tony Dunst WPT Five Diamond

By Paul Seaton

The WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic is one of the signature events on the poker calendar. Many poker events may purport to be classics, but in truth, few events have such a decorated history as the event once adorned with the name Doyle Brunson and now known simply as the Five Diamond. Won by major players, competed for by legends, the event has it all.

Last year, popular pro Dylan Linde won the WPT Five Diamond Main Event for over $1.6 million, with over 1,001 entries making it a record-breaking year. Linde was a well-liked winner, with the poker industry congratulating him on a major title, the effervescent character having worked so hard to achieve his goals. Here’s how he did it.

There’s no shortage of excitement for this year’s battle, with Tony Dunst can’t wait for the Five Diamond Classic, one of the favorite tournaments for poker players across America and around the world.

Vince Van Patten was only too happy to share the ClubWPT news that seven lucky players could win a trip to Las Vegas themselves. Rumors that they would be walking there in a suit are entirely unfounded!

Stefanov Eliminates Them All to Win WPT Seminole Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open

In this month’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open, it was the Bulgarian player Milen Stefanov who won WPT Main Event and in doing so, display something of a rarity.

We’ll often have players who bring their A-Game right out of the bag in the final, but how often do you see a player eliminate every single opponent they faced of the final six? In Milen Stefanov, we saw this happen.

Taking place at the fantastic cardroom inside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida, Stefanov took over the final table from the off, busting the last five opponents he faced from the total field of an amazing 988 players.

The $3,500 buy-in event had produced some great drama before the final day but saved the best until last. Stefanov won a coinflip with pocket sevens to bust Francis Anderson, who had king-queen. Just a few hands later, Cesar Fuentes could fare no better, with his shove with queen-ten against Stefanov’s ace-king falling short.

Roman Korenev tried with the same hand that busted Fuentes, who ran into the Bulgarian chip leader’s pocket aces. After Stefanov busted David Novosel, he had an unassailable heads-up lead, and made it count, with Germany’s Fabian Gumz the runner-up

Stefanov had done it the hard way, and in doing so, more than quadrupled his lifetime winnings, proving as ever that dreams can come true on the World Poker Tour.
