MILLIONS Barcelona

In less than six weeks, The World Poker Tour, powered by partypoker LIVE, will be making its way to the glorious city of Barcelona in Spain, for two weeks of sun, sand, poker and maybe the odd sangria!

Oh, and did we mention at that WPT Barcelona comes with guarantees of over € 5.5 million across the festival! So if you haven’t already made your travel plans what are you waiting for?

If all this wasn’t enough, and you still would like a little more info on what Barcelona has to offer then keep reading, WPT has you covered!

Barcelona you beauty!

I think it’s fair to say that poker players are often used to the fast life. Whether that may be thinking on your feet at the table or running to the bathroom before your big blind comes back around, either way, Barcelona will offer you the chance to see the sights of the city at your own pace.

Just walking around the city with the sun soaking in is quite frankly the best way to do it. But you poker players can be limited by time, so before the action resumes why not take part in one of the city’s segway tours and take in the sites in super quick fashion. Alternatively, Barcelona’s hop-on-hop-off bus tours will provide a similar experience.

If you are lucky enough – or I guess unlucky enough in this situation – to have a full day off from the fantastic WPT Barcelona schedule, then taking a more extended trip could be a great call. For the sports fans among you, the Nou Camp, home to football giants FC Barcelona, is only a short metro train journey from the city center. The Nou Camp is open for self-guided and guided tours of the 99,000 capacity stadium and even features a VR experience.

If you are hoping to catch the majestic Messi in action, you will most likely need to act fast, but the Men’s first team have two home matches scheduled during the WPT Barcelona festival. Rayo Vallecano visits the Nou Camp on Sunday, March 10, and French giants Lyon take on Messi and company on Wednesday, March 13 in the UEFA Champions League.

Aside from the sport, the city boasts history, culture, and architectural landmarks in vast quantities, from the cathedrals to modern day buildings. It’s a great way to relax and expand your horizons, and one top tip would be to check out the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia.

MILLIONS Barcelona Location

Dinner Break!

Barcelona, as you can imagine, is a city with an abundance of dining options from top-of-the-range restaurants, family-orientated cafes, marketplaces, and street food within the famous Las Ramblas area.

For you poker players, one key question in your mind will be – where do I go in the dinner break?

Luckily for you, Casino Barcelona is located moments away from the hub of the Marina and all the dining options that come with it. Just a few short steps outside of the Casino are several high-quality restaurants featuring cuisine such as Italian, Mexican, American and of course Spanish. As well as this, if you are one for grab-and-go before you head back to the poker table, several fast food and deli cafe style options are available as well. So whether you are looking to relax on a warm-evening or looking for a quick food-fix, Barcelona will serve you well.

Nighttime Vibes

MILLIONS Barcelona

Look, everyone is going to have a bad day at the tables at some point. It goes without saying in this game. But once you have the chance to repeat your bad-beat story to whoever will listen, and over again in your head several times, it’s time to move on – you are in Barcelona!

Take a night off and let the warm Spanish air guide you to one of the vibrant watering holes the city has to offer.

Situated right outside of Casino Barcelona is an array of bars, meeting spots and nightclubs. Now don’t worry if you see a queue of people all waiting to get into a glass box, this is one of the unique features about the Barcelona club scene. Some of the most vibrant nightclubs in the Marina area are housed underground and create a mind-blowing reaction when you set foot inside. DJs and artists such as Axwell, Black Eyes Peas, Bruno Mars, David Guetta, Deadmaus, Don Diablo, Hardwell, Martin Gaurexx, Marshmello, and Steve Aoki are just a few of the guests to have appeared on stage recently.

Another little hint about Barcelona is there niche bars situated throughout the city. Now you will have to do a little research into these, but it will be worth it. These individual bars can often be found in the small streets of the Gothic Quarters, but each comes with a unique theme and surroundings including a tropical forest, fairyland, and carnival decor.

One final tip, keep your eyes open for the street performers who are known to display quite remarkable costumes and artwork for the public’s viewing pleasure. You may find yourself thinking you have walked onto the set of a sci-fi movie but won’t be able to look away.

Who knows? A night off may be precisely what you need, and then you’re back ready to play your A-game again.

Breathe, and relax…

Whether you are looking for a place to enjoy a pre-poker meditation session or perhaps a spot to unwind after the day’s battles, surely a golden sand beach is up there!

Barcelona again has that on offer just meters away from the casino. As well as the regular sunbathing spots, the beaches offer water sports, volleyball, bars, lunch spots and all-in-all just the perfect spot to chill.

WPT Barcelona has so much on offer for poker players we know that it will be difficult for you to draw yourself away from the poker action, but we hope you do get the chance to check out this beautiful city and enjoy the whole WPT experience in Spain. See you there!
