The WPT Choctaw is the first WPT final table of Will Berry’s (pictured) career. After finishing 15th in December in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $85,542, he’s now hoping to add his name for the Champions Cup at the HyperX Esports Arena at the Luxor.

A graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in petroleum engineering (he adds that he minored in poker), the 27-year-old grew up in Norman and now lives in Oklahoma City and has been a regular tournament player since 2013. He now has $1.3 million in live tournament winnings.

His biggest win to date came in 2017 when he took down a WSOP Circuit Main Event in Tulsa for $180,806. Now with five WPT cashes, this could become the biggest finish of his career.

“It would be a big professional accomplishment,” he says of winning a WPT title. “It’s nice to be here and have a chance.”

What does he think about playing in a high-tech arena in front of so many fans and cameras?

“I like it,” he says. “It’s something different and I think it’s good for the game to try and broadcast it to a wider audience.”

While he was expecting a tough final table, he has some experience playing with all those at the final table. He made good use of his week between playing to six in Oklahoma and the final table here in Las Vegas.

“I didn’t play any poker really,” he says. “I just studied final tables and studied tape on my opponents – trying to find an edge on my opponents.”
