Los Angeles, CA (December 23, 2020) – The World Poker Tour® has concluded the first-ever WPTDeepStacks™ Taiwan festival in Taipei City, hosted by Chinese Texas Hold’em Association (CTP). The WPTDeepStacks Main Event attracted 526 entries to create a prize pool of TWD 6,887,970 ($244,000). Huang Chyan Pu won the tournament, in his first career live event, and the first-place prize of TWD 1,317,800 ($46,756).
WPTDeepStacks Taiwan is the first WPTDeepStacks-branded series in the Asia-Pacific region, and was attended by local Taiwanese players to comply with COVID-19 regulations.
The festival started on December 11 and 26 total events took place, compiling an aggregate prize pool of $687,500 across 2,659 entries. Among the players to participate in the series were WPT® Champions Club member Pete Chen, WPT final tablist and Natural8 ambassador Kitty Kuo, and high stakes cash game regular Andy Tsai.
Zong Chi He took fourth-place in the WPTDeepStacks Main Event and the Players of the Series title, which earned him a $1,500 WPT Passport, eligible to be used at any global WPT event.
Players were able to qualify for the WPTDeepStacks Main Event on Natural8, marking the first live event partnership between the World Poker Tour and one of Asia’s leading online poker sites.
