Los Angeles, CA (July 14, 2022) – The World Poker Tour® is heading back to Southern California this August for the Legends of Poker at the famous Bicycle Casino, now named Parkwest Bicycle Casino, in Bell Gardens, CA. The $5,250 buy-in Main Tour event runs August 27-September 1 with a $2.5 million guarantee and will be the cornerstone of WPT® Week as part of the overall Legends of Poker festival.
“The Legends of Poker event holds a very special place in the history of the World Poker Tour,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Collaborating with The Bike on another event is a fitting continuation of our 20th anniversary celebration.
Consisting of five side events and the Main Event, WPT Week begins on August 21 and concludes with the Main Event final table on September 1. All six events are eligible for the WPT Player of the Festival leaderboard, which awards a $1,100 WPT Prime Passport to the player with the most points over the course of those six events.
The Parkwest Bicycle Casino, endearingly referred to as The Bike by players and fans alike, hosted the second WPT event ever in August 2002, when Chris Karagulleyan defeated 133 other players on his way to the title.
Throughout its history, the WPT Legends of Poker has lived up to its name with the likes of Dan Harrington, Prahlad Friedman, and John Phan all winning the event. However, it most famously did so in 2004, when Doyle Brunson topped a 667-player field to win his first WPT title and $1,198,260 – the largest live tournament score of Brunson’s storied career.

The Legends of Poker festival begins July 25. The Main Event schedule includes three starting flights, August 27-29, and players can re-enter each starting flight one time. The final table will be live-streamed on all WPT platforms including YouTube and Twitch.
