Championship Event Features a $2 Million Guarantee and Will Have Final Table Live Streamed on WPT.com

As the home of the two largest tournaments in WPT history, there’s no question that the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is one of the most popular venues on the World Poker Tour. Now, Borgata is aiming to make history again as it prepares to host the WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship running from January 27 through February 1.

With a $3,500 buy-in and a guaranteed prize pool worth at least $2 million, this event is sure to cement Borgata’s reputation as the premier poker room in the Northeast as players head to Atlantic City for the chance to become the next member of the exclusive WPT Champions Club and have their names etched onto the WPT Champions Cup. Featuring two Day 1s with unlimited re-entries through Level 6 of each day, this tournament has produced some notable champions throughout its history, including WPT Champions Club members Gavin Griffin, John Hennigan, and Michael Mizrachi.

“Over the past 10 seasons, Borgata has consistently proven itself to be an amazing partner and a favorite destination for many players on tour,” said WPT President Adam Pliska. “We’re thrilled to deepen our relationship with Borgata by adding this additional event at their property to our tour schedule, and we look forward to another amazing large turnout to start off 2013.

The WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship is the headline event of Borgata’s Winter Poker Open Festival, which begins January 15 and features 56 total events (25 trophy events) with buy-ins starting for as little as $200. Away from the tournament tables, Borgata spreads a full complement of lively cash games in its poker room and offers more than 250 table games, including Blackjack, Pai Gow, Three-Card Poker, and Baccarat. Visitors seeking additional entertainment options can relax at Borgata’s world-class spa or party at one of its many popular night clubs. For those seeking fine-dining, Borgata offers a variety of notable restaurants, including Wolfgang Puck’s American Grille and Bobby Flay Steak.

The final table of this tournament will begin at 1pm ET on Friday, February 1 with a live stream hosted by Tony Dunst beginning at 1:30pm ET on www.WorldPokerTour.com.
