Los Angeles, CA (January 9, 2020) World Poker Tour® today announced the Season XVIII WPT® at Venetian, taking place from March 13-17, 2020, at The Venetian® Resort Las Vegas. The event features a $5,000 buy-in and a $2 million guaranteed prize pool.
The WPT and The Venetian Resort are partnering for the second time following the massive success of the Season XVII WPT at Venetian event in March 2019. Ben Palmer defeated a field of 734 entries to win his first WPT title and the $431,655 first-place prize. The $3,500 buy-in event netted a prize pool of more than $2.3 million that well surpassed the $1 million guarantee.
The Season XVIII WPT at Venetian event continues the WPT’s trip to the West Coast in the first quarter of 2020. The WPT L.A. Poker Classic (February 29-March 4) at Commerce Casino and WPT Rolling Thunder (March 7-10) at Thunder Valley Casino Resort precede WPT at Venetian.
The Season XVIII WPT at Venetian is part of its DeepStack Showdown series of events, which takes place March 9-29, and offers more than $3 million in guaranteed prize pools.
Among the notable players who finished in the money at the Season XVII WPT at Venetian include WPT Champions Club member David Williams, Season XI WPT Player of the Year Matt Salsberg, Season XVI WPT Tournament of Champions winner Matthew Waxman, WPTDeepStacks Champion Maria Ho, and WPT Commentator Tony Dunst.
