Los Angeles, CA (August 27, 2014) — Following a record-setting event with 28 entries in Season I, WPT Alpha8® returns to St. Kitts for another electrifying televised $100,000 super high roller at the Royal Beach Casino and Christophe Harbour. Hosted by Christophe Harbour resident and big buy-in enthusiast Bill Perkins, WPT Alpha8 St. Kitts begins on Sunday, November 2 and features a 48-player cap. Players who wire their entry money in advance will be saved seats. Unlimited reentries are allowed for the first six levels of play, and the event will air on FOX Sports 1 in 2015.

“I love St. Kitts. It’s a beautiful, warm, friendly, Caribbean island with the best topography and beaches in the Atlantic, and Christopher Harbor represents the best of the island,” said WPT Alpha8 St. Kitts host Bill Perkins. “I also love poker, especially elite high-stakes no-limit hold’em competition. I am blessed, honored, and pleased to host a second WPT Alpha8 event at Christophe Harbor, and I look forward to winning my first tournament.”

Joining Perkins in St. Kitts are several top professionals, including WPT Alpha8 commentator Olivier Busquet. Busquet boosted his bankroll in August, winning $1,188,996 in Barcelona, and looks to add to his $5.8 million in career live tournament earnings in the Caribbean this November.

“The combination of the venue, the buy-in, and the field makes this the most excited I have ever been to play in a poker tournament,” said Busquet. “I hope to continue some of my recent success that I’ve had in super high rollers.”

Set on 2,500 acres of natural bays, bluffs, and beaches on the Eastern Caribbean island of St. Kitts, Christophe Harbour is a dynamic resort community with elegant residences, resort hotels, and exceptional amenities, including a super-yacht marina and village. The Marriott St. Kitts & Royal Beach Casino neighbors Christophe Harbour, offering luxury guest rooms, traditional West Indian restaurants, the 15,000-square foot Emerald Mist Spa, and the championship Royal St. Kitts Golf Club.

Philipp Gruissem took down the inaugural WPT Alpha8 St. Kitts, outlasting 28 entrants to pocket $1,086,000. The German defeated Brit Tom Macdonald – who earned $679,000 – heads up, winning his second consecutive WPT Alpha8 title.

“Our first rendezvous with the World Poker Tour in Season I of WPT Alpha8 was a great success, and we are looking forward to welcoming poker’s top professionals and the world’s wealthiest amateurs back to the wonderful island of St. Kitts in Season II,” said Royal Beach Casino President Ugo Gagliardi. “Last year we generated a prize pool of more than $2.7 million, and we’re anticipating an even bigger purse this time around.”

WPT President Adam Pliska adds, “Christophe Harbour is an immaculate destination, offering an authentic Caribbean experience and world-class amenities. The players who attended the record-setting WPT Alpha8 St. Kitts in Season I thoroughly enjoyed themselves on and off of the felt, and the word has spread throughout the poker community about this event, leading to our much-anticipated return. There was a special moment during our first trip last season where nearly all of the players in St. Kitts went for a swim in the ocean during a break on Day 1 – where else can you go for a casual dip in the sea while playing poker for millions of dollars?”
