When WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open Day 1A play came to an end last night 209 players were left standing out of the 397 that ponied up their $3,500 to enter, or re-enter, the tournament. As this event features unlimited re-entry through the end of level 6 on each Day 1, there is expected to a large number of entries by the time all is said and done today.

Out in the field for Day 1A were 15 WPT Champions Club members, including Matt Giannetti, Kevin Saul, Jonathan Roy, Dwyte Pilgrim, Nam Le, Ravi Raghavan, Matt Salsberg, Matt Waxman, Ben Hamnett, Andy Frankenberger, Will Failla and Tony Gregg. All who made it through to Day 2. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Noah Schwartz, Shawn Cunix, and Jonathan Little.

Also featured were several members of the WPT Family, the WPT’s very own Raw Deal analyst Tony Dunst along with Season XI Ones to Watch Amanda Musumeci and Jason Koon.

Other notables in the field included Eric Baldwin, James St. Hilaire, Dan Buzgon, Lee Childs, Christian Harder, Ryan Eriquezzo, Orson Young, Dan O’Brien and many others.

Part way through the day, Mike Sexton took part in a $390 Sit ‘n’ Go, in which the winner took home a seat into Day 1B of this WPT Main Event and a WPT chip set. The WPT Royal Flush Girls were railing Mike and rooting him on along with the other players at the table. The lone female at the table took down the package; so congrats to her and we’ll all be seeing her out in the field for Day 1B.

Away from the action, WPT Royal Flush Girls Jeannie Duffy and Danielle Ruiz sat down for a radio interview with Mark Hoke of Fifth Street Radio. WPT host Mike Sexton was also a guest on the show, and you can hear the episode by visiting FifthStreetRadio.com.

Luis Vasquez ended the night as the official chip leader with 182,075 chips and also took home $5,000 for being end of Day 1A chip leader. WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open returns at 11am today for Day 1B and the survivors will return for Day 2 at Noon on Tuesday.
