Day 2 has come to a close at WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open in Atlantic City with 171 players remaining. Day 3 will kick off today at Noon hoping to get to the money fairly quickly. Scott Hertz ended the night as our chip leader with 519,300 chips. He is joined at the top by Joe DiMartino (517,100), Yung Hwang (498,900), and Patrick Chan (494,900). Other notables with a lot of chips to work with include Matt Glantz (384,000), Fall 2012 Borgata Poker Open runner-up Matthew Burnitz (349,600), and Keven Stammen (345,800).

The day started with 19 WPT Champions Club members in the field, but only 5 remain going into Day 3 – Jonathan Little, Matt Salsberg, Jonathan Roy, Soi Nguyen and Ravi Raghavan will all return to make a run for another title. Champs that did not make it through include Mike Scarborough, Nam Le, Kevin Saul, JC Tran, Matt Giannetti, Matt Waxman, Noah Schwartz, Tony Ruberto, Anthony Gregg, Ben Hamnett, and Yevgeniy Timoshenko.

We also lost our ClubWPT Qualifier, Charlie Hill. He made almost made it to the dinner break but, unfortunately, could not hang on. Other notable eliminations included Orson Young, Steve Dannemann, Scott Baumstein, Shannon Shorr, Dan O’Brien, Amnon Fillippi, John Racener, and John Dolan.

Check back in at Noon ET on Wednesday to see which players will make the money when 100 remain, and who will bust on the bubble. The field is scheduled to play down to the final 27 players tomorrow, but that might be adjusted at the discretion of the tournament staff. Either way, we will be here to bring you all of the poker action from the Borgata Hotel and Casino.
