bwin WPT Prague kicked off in the bohemian capital city of the Czech Republic. Day 1A, the first of three Day 1’s, ended with 40 players registering for the €3300 event. The day ended after playing 8 levels, with the blind levels at 300/600 and a field of 22 players remaining. The average chip stack is 54,545 with a total of 1,200,000 chips in play.
Notable players attending the event included partypoker pro’s Amatos Gomila and Kara Scott, Andrey Shatilov, Simon Ravnsbaek, Tomeu Gomilla, Vasili Firsau, Micah Raskin, Seth Berger, Paul Tedeschi and the lead singer of the Polish band Afromental Wojciech Lozowski. Those progressing into to Day 2 include partypoker Pro Kara Scott (61,800), Wojciech Lozowski (54,800), Micah Raskin (61,000) Paul Tedeschi (41,200) and WPT Grand Prix de Paris runner up Vasili Firsau (167,700), who ended up as Day1A chipleader. WPT Champions Club Member and partypoker Pro Marvin Rettenmaier also played today and was lost when in the final level, he was reduced to chip dust when he lost a flip against Petr Jelinek JJ v AQ when an ace and queen appeared on the board. Joining Rettenmaier on the sidelines was PartyPoker Pro Amatos Gomila, WPT Venice and Vienna final tablist Simon Ravnsbaek and the American Seth Berger.
Highlights for the players included;
- The start of our Christmas Jumper Promotion, the Royal Flush Girls will declare the Winner and the new owner of an ipad Air at the WPT party on Day 2
- The online qualifier welcome session, which included drinks, canapés and information for the weeks events, was held in the Hotel Andels crystal room
- The online qualifiers will be visiting the Staropramen Brewery; they will take a tour of the brewery, discover the process which goes into making Beer and will get the chance to sample the local drink
Also, Jesse May hosted the inaugural WPT Live Show, which will air daily at 8PM CET. The first of its kind show will feature fast paced entertainment including a daily round up from the WPT Prague Main Event with guest WPT Live Updates Blogger, Lee Davy plus a mix of interviews with pro poker players, special guests and topical sports events.
