During filming for the World Poker Tour, the WPT crew spends a lot of time getting background and behind-the-scenes interviews to help give viewers an inside look at the WPT experience and the players and cast that make up the WPT family. With so much footage shot, there’s not always room in the TV episodes to show viewers every part of every interview.

When shooting WPT Season IX, Kimberly Lansing interviewed the legendary Doyle Brunson. During the “5 Questions” segment, this miraculous story didn’t make the broadcast; however, the clip is just so good that the World Poker Tour decided to keep it for the Season X Premiere.

We at the WPT Blog were able to get our hands on this extraordinary tale. Back in the day, a poker game in West Virginia turned particularly violent; guns drawn, pistols whipped, lives threatened… It’s a fascinating story highlighting poker’s darker roots, told by someone who has seen poker move from seedy back rooms to the televised poker that WPT pioneered.

Watch the video for the full story from the man himself and make sure to catch the full WPT Season X Preview show when it airs at 8:00pm and 11:00pm local time this Sunday, February 12 on Fox Sports Net (FSN) and its affiliates.
