More news from the World Poker Tour and partypoker! The two premier names in the game are announcing another major WPT Main Tour event to place on partypoker.com. This time, the buy-in is higher and the prizes are bigger.

The WPT World Online Championships will feature 15 Championship Events from July 1st to August 9th 2020. This will be the biggest online series ever run by partypoker and the full schedule will be released shortly.

The highlight of the Festival will be the $10,300 buy-in Season XVIII WPT World Online Championship. This event sets up to be the largest prize pool for a $10,000 buy-in event in WPT history.

The WPT World Online Championships will be the second WPT Main Tour festival to take place on partypoker which follows-up on the WPT Online Series running now.

This event marks the return of the WPT World Championship for the first time since Season XIII, when Asher Conniff won the $15,000 event at Borgata to win $973,683.

“Players have asked us to do something special, and the $10,300 WPT World Online Championships is the perfect way to meet the demand of the summer poker season,” said John Duthie, President of partypoker LIVE.

The winner of the WPT World Online Championship will claim one of the largest first-place prizes in WPT history along with a $15,000 seat into the Season XVIII WPT Tournament of Champions presented by Baccarat Crystal.

Dating back to Season I, the WPT World Championship has featured one of the highest buy-ins and the largest prize pool of the season starting at Bellagio when Alan Goehring defeated a final table including Phil Ivey and Doyle Brunson to win $1.01 million.

In Season V, a new bar was set across the World Poker Tour and the globe when Carlos Mortensen won $3.97 million versus a field of 639 players in the $25,000 buy-in event. The $15.495 million prize pool remains the largest in WPT history and up until last year, the record-holder for prize pool in a $25,000 buy-in tournament.

More events in the WPT World Online Championships festival, including satellites and a full schedule will be released at a later date.

“The World Poker Tour and partypoker continue to push the boundaries of poker forward and the WPT World Online Championships is the latest venture in our wonderful partnership,” said Hermance Blum, VP Europe.
