On Monday, April 2, Gary Miller (pictured) captured the 888poker WPT500 London title. Miller topped a field of 1,810 entries to win the tournament’s £114,000 ($159,600) first-place prize.

Miller defeated Getnet Hailu in heads-up play after entering the final duel with the chip lead. On the final hand, Hailu moved all in for 3.4 million with the blinds at 300,000-600,000 with a 75,000 ante. Miller called with the Diamond 7Spade 7 and Hailu was on the ropes with the Diamond KSpade 10. The flop was Diamond 10Heart 9Spade 3 to give Hailu the lead, but the Club 7 hit the felt on fourth street to put Miller back in the lead and leave Hailu drawing dead. The final card was the Heart J to officially seal the deal.

That’s when Miller busted Richard Hoadley in sixth place before he knocked out Sang Leung in fifth place.

With four players left, Miller and Charles Akadiri found all the money in the middle in a blind-versus-blind situation. Miller had the Club AClub 5 against Akadiri’s Diamond ASpade 9, but the Club 4Club 3Club 2 flop delivered Miller with a steel wheel to bust Akadiri.

Hailu then busted Dwayne Bradley in third place to set up heads-up play between Miller and Hailu.
