Jimmy Livramento has been crowned the WPTDeepStacks Portugal Main Event champion after he topped a field of 224 players at Casino Vilamoura.

The final day of action capped four days of action-packed poker in the beautiful setting of Vilamoura in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. Nine players returned for the final day all with the hope of securing the €52,500 first-place prize that included a package to the season-ending WPTDeepStacks event in Europe. Livramento defeated Henrique Couto in heads-up play.

Francisco Lopes, the tournament’s defending champion, reached the final table but was ultimately denied a title defense with a fifth-place finish.

8th: Tiago Branco – €6,185
9th: Jorge Oliveira – €4,918

Livramento entered the final table with the chip lead and started strong by knocking out the first two players, Tiago Branco in eighth place and Jorge Oliveira in ninth place. He then knocked out Andre Cuco in sixth place.

Lopes’ run ended in fifth after his Spade ASpade 9 busted to Cesario Gomes’ Diamond AClub 10, and the defending champ was left with a €13,367 payday. Gomes later busted in third place.

Livramento found a double against Couto during heads-up play, then kept applying the pressure needed to whittle Couto down. On the final hand, the money went in on the Club 10Diamond 5Diamond 3Spade 6 board. Couto was at risk with the Diamond 6Heart 4, and Livramento had the Club QDiamond 10.
