The first World Poker Tour event in the state of Oklahoma kicked off on Friday, as WPT Choctaw attracted 440 entries on Day 1A in a tournament where the expectations are for a total field size of more than 1,000.

There was a “Meet the Pros” session the night before, where players and fans could meet WPT legends Scotty Nguyen, Erik Seidel, and Vanessa Selbst, along with WPT commentators Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten. But they weren’t the only big names in the field.

There were 21 WPT Champions Club members who showed up for the inaugural Oklahoma WPT event, and 11 of them survived the day. The biggest stacks among that group were Jared Jaffee (193,400), Darren Elias (120,300), Dylan Wilkerson (101,600), and Cornel Cimpan (98,600).

The overall chip leader at the end of Day 1A is Terry Presley (pictured above) with 344,400, the only player to reach the 300K mark.

Day 1B begins tomorrow (Saturday) at 12:00 noon, and expectations are for a much larger field than Day 1A’s 440. Return to WPT.com for continuing live updates of all the action.
