Los Angeles, CA (November 13, 2018) – WPTDeepStacks™, poker’s premier mid-major tournament circuit, today announced the first half of its 2019 global schedule, featuring 18 stops across 11 countries along with two WPT500 events and over $3 million in guarantees.
The first stop for WPTDeepStacks in 2019 is WPTDeepStacks Berlin at Spielbank Casino from January 11-14. The 2019 buy-in is €1,200 and comes with a €500,000 guarantee. In 2018, the WPTDeepStacks event at Spielbank Casino attracted 561 entries and created a prize pool of more than €775,000.
WPTDeepStacks returns to the United States from January 17-22 for WPTDeepStacks Hollywood at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL. This event in 2018 attracted 1,366 entries and was won by Scott Baumstein, who took home more than $223,000 out of a prize pool of more than $1.3 million. The buy-in is $1,100 with a $1 million guarantee.
The third stop is the first of five events as part of the WPT® and partypoker LIVE partnership in Europe. WPTDeepStacks Russia will take place on January 24-27 at Casino Sochi in Sochi, Russia and is the first WPTDeepStacks event to be held in Russia.
From February 1-5, WPTDeepStacks travels north to Playground Poker Club for the CAD $1,650 WPTDeepStacks Montreal. The first WPTDeepStacks event at Playground Poker Club recently took place in November and attracted 896 entries. David Quang topped the CAD $1 million guaranteed event to collect the CAD $222,331 first-place prize. When WPTDeepStacks returns to Playground Poker Club next February, the guarantee will be CAD $750,000.
WPTDeepStacks returns to Europe from February 7-10 when WPTDeepStacks Brussels kicks off at Grand Casino Brussels VIAGE for a €1,200 buy-in WPTDeepStacks Main Event.
The sixth stop sees WPTDeepStacks heading to North Florida and bestbet Jacksonville. WPTDS Jacksonville plays from March 8-11 with a $1,500 buy-in and a $300,000 guarantee with the full festival running from March 1-11.
While WPTDeepStacks Jacksonville takes place, WPT500 and WPTDeepStacks Barcelona will be in action at Casino Barcelona. The WPT500 takes place March 8-12 and the WPTDeepStacks event goes from March 14-17. Both events are part of the partypoker LIVE partnership.
Next, WPTDeepStacks goes transcontinental to Emperors Palace Hotel Casino in Johannesburg, South Africa from March 15-17. The RAND 10,000 (approximately $700) buy-in carries a notable defending champion. In October 2018, Maria Ho defeated a field of 387 entries to win her first WPTDeepStacks title and $68,885.
WPT travels to Asia at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Pro Poker Club for WPT Vietnam from March 19-23. The buy-in is VND $25 million (approximately $1,070). The first WPT event in Vietnam in September 2018 set a record prize pool in the country of $565,000.
WPTDeepStacks Maryland takes place at Live! Hotel and Casino in Hanover, MD from March 22-25. Jason Eisele won more than $108,000 in a field of 389 entries in 2018. The $300,000 guarantee was breached with more than $500,000 in the final prize pool and the same guarantee is on the docket.
March concludes with WPTDeepStacks Amsterdam from March 28-31 at Holland Casino Amsterdam Center. TheWPTDeepStacks Main Event carries a €1,200 buy-in.
As the calendar turns to April, WPTDeepStacks goes to Lincoln, CA for WPTDeepStacks Sacramento at Thunder Valley Casino Resort. The $1,100 buy-in includes a $500,000 guarantee and the WPTDeepStacks Main Event will take place from April 4-8.
Also in April, WPT500 and WPTDeepStacks United Kingdom will take place at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham, UK. WPT500 dates are April 5-10 with WPTDeepStacks to follow from April 11-14. These two events are the final leg of the five as part of the partypoker LIVE partnership and coincide with the Season XVII WPT European Championship.
DeepStacks Edmonton will take place April 11-15 at Casino Yellowhead in Edmonton, Canada with a CAD $1,100 buy-in and CAD $300,000 guarantee.
*Due to AGLC regulations, the Edmonton stop on the tour will remain a DeepStacks Poker Tour-only event. The DSPT Edmonton Main Event qualifies for WPTDS Player of the Year points.
A brand new addition to the WPTDeepStacks schedule will take place from May 9-13, as the tour goes to Golden Gates Casino in Blackhawk, Colorado. The event is the first trip for WPTDeepStacks to Colorado, and comes with a $1,500 buy-in.
Following Colorado, WPTDeepStacks heads to Pennsylvania and Parx Casino in Bensalem for WPTDeepStacks Big Stax. The WPTDeepStacks Main Event dates are May 17-20 and the buy-in is $1,600. The last WPTDeepStacks trip to Parx was in 2017 when Jimmy Poper defeated 660 entries to win more than $201,000 in a prize pool that reached $950,000.
The WPT schedule concludes overseas in Auckland, New Zealand and Skycity Auckland. The NZD $2,200 buy-in WPT Main Event goes from May 31-June 3 and is the second WPT event in New Zealand. The 2018 tournament drew 360 entries and set the record for the largest tournament ever in New Zealand.
The last WPTDeepStacks event in the first half of 2019 is in Tampa, FL and Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The WPTDeepStacks Tampa Main Event takes place from June 13-17 and includes a $1,100 buy-in and $300,000 guarantee.
