Los Angeles, CA (March 18, 2019) – World Poker Tour® this week completed the record-breaking WPT® Barcelona festival, powered by partypoker LIVE, at Casino Barcelona. Each of the respective WPT-branded events set records for field size in Europe. The WPT500, WPTDeepStacks™, and WPT Main Tour offerings combined to attract 5,098 entries. In total, the three events dispersed more than €6.72 million from the accumulated prize pools, topping the €5 million guaranteed.
Vitalijs Zavorotnijs defeated 1,227 entries to win the WPT Main Event, and the €600,000 first-place prize along with a $15,000 seat to the Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions. Zavorotnijs became the first Latvian player to win a WPT Main Tour event, and notched his win besting the second-largest WPT Main Tour field of Season XVII in what was the largest WPT Main Event ever held in Europe.
The WPT Barcelona Main Event final table included six players from six different nations, including: Bulgaria, France, Germany, Latvia, Lebanon, and Sweden.
Lukasz Fraczek opened the WPT Barcelona festival by winning the WPT500 event versus a field of 2,763 entries. Fraczek earned €215,000 for conquering the biggest WPT500 field in European history.
To conclude the WPT Barcelona festival, Simon Brandstrom won the WPTDeepStacks event for €270,000 against the fifth-largest field in WPTDeepStacks history of 1,232 entries.
