WPT visited The Gardens Casino for the first time in 2018. The venue hosted a full slate of poker tournaments with the main draw being the $5,000 WPT Gardens Main Event. This event drew a large field of nearly 600 entrants and garnered a prizepool just shy of $3 million dollars. Simon Lam earned the title of WPT Champion by outlasting the field and took home the first place prize of $565,055.
The list of WPT Champions crowned at The Gardens Casino includes Lam, Frank Stepuchin, Roger Teska, and Markus Gonsalves. California is a hotspot for poker talent as several of poker's greatest players call California home, including former WPT DeepStacks Champion and Season 8 WPT Player of the Year award winner Faraz Jaka.
