A membership at ClubWPT.com has paid off in spades in a short amount of time for Andrew Campanelli. The New Yorker turned his membership* into a seat at the WPT Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic within just four short months of signing up.
Now seated in the Bellagio Poker room just outside the doors of Bobby’s Room, the legendary high-stakes poker room, Campanelli has “Mike Matusow six feet to [his] right, Daniel Negreanu six feet to [his] left, Barry Greenstein behind [him] and Annette Obrestad right over there” and a chance to take home a share of what is sure to be a multi-million dollar prizepool (registration is still open at this time).
With names like that in the field for the 10th Anniversary edition of this event (the World Poker Tour started here in 2002), Campanelli faces much stiffer competition than he did while beating out the 2,518 players in the ClubWPT.com event that got him this seat. And while that membership event only took him 4 hours and 40 minutes to win, the time required to win a WPT event is likely to take more than 4 days. Either way, Campanelli told WPT Live Updates that he feels good, and with no recognizable names at his table early on Day 1, he has the time and structure to build his chip stack and make a run at a WPT title.
