Congratulations to WPT Champions Club member Matt Waxman who added another title to his resume by winning the WPT Regional Florida Seminole Rock & Roll Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.
Waxman was just one of three WPT Champions Club members who started the final day of play, as Michael Mizrachi and Daryll Fish were also both in the hunt for the title and the $145,000 first-place prize. All three players remained when the tournament reached the final 10, but Mizrachi couldn’t advance any further, and was eliminated in 10th position ($10,628) after his two pair fell to Fish’s flush.
Four more players were eliminated by the time the tournament got to dinner break, with Fish, Tom Gleason, and Tyler Stafman all sitting on short stacks. Predictably, each of these player busted in succession after the break, leaving Waxman and Yuan Yangshen to battle heads up for the title. With each player sitting on a stack of 100 blinds or better, the two chopped the money, with Waxman taking the title.
