One of the newest stops on the World Poker Tour, WPT Caribbean is scheduled to take place from November 19 – 24 on the beautiful island of St. Maarten. And, thanks to a $5,000 WPT Caribbean package won on ClubWPT, VIP member Tom Oakes will be there to soak up every bit of sun he can while trying to get his name engraved on the WPT Champions Cup.
Tom is a 69 year old retired Teamster from Amsterdam, NY (just outside of Albany), who has been married to his wife Darlene (also accompanying him on the trip) for 42 years. He is also the proud father of two girls (ages 40 and 35).
Although he has been playing poker for as long as he can remember, he started playing No Limit Texas Hold ’em as recently as seven years ago after seeing poker on TV. So, after trying his hand at the local casino (Turning Stone), he decided to become a little more serious and put some money on an online poker site. After blowing that (his words), he saw our ClubWPT “Never Lose a Dime Playing Poker” commercial and decided that to give it a try. That was in 2008. Since then, Tom plays regularly and has even invited his friends to sign up and join him. Along with the great poker action, Tom also enjoys the great ClubWPT VIP benefits, including the videos, magazines and WPT news and updates.
Tom is looking forward to meeting the Royal Flush Girls while at WPT Caribbean, and his plans for the trip are to relax, enjoy the weather and beaches with his wife.
