After winning the €1,100 PokerStars National Championship at the PokerStars Championship presented by Monte-Carlo Casino®, Andreas Klatt is making a run at an even bigger title in the PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo €5,300 Main Event. In the National Championship, Klatt topped a field of 1,252 entries to win €151,445, and after Wednesday he’s alive for Day 5 of the €5,300 Main Event in Monaco with just 16 players left from the 727 that started.

With his victory in the National Championship, Klatt stood atop the PokerStars Championship WPT MonteDam Swing leaderboard with 115 points. He’s earned a minimum of 20 more points in the MonteDam Swing leaderboard race, which guarantees that he will remain in first place through the completion of the MonteDam Swing’s first leg.

Klatt finished Day 4 of the PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo €5,300 Main Event in 10th place among the final 16 players.

Klatt isn’t the only player remaining who also cashed in the €1,100 PokerStars National Championship, though. Alexandru Papazian, Sergio Aido, and Douglas Ferreira Souza all cashed in the event Klatt won and each have 15 points on the MonteDam Swing leaderboard. The maximum points Papazian, Aido, or Souza can earn in the €5,300 Main Event is 115 points, making the ceiling for each a total of 130. Klatt’s 20 points earned thus far in the €5,300 Main Event have his current total at 135.

Nevertheless, the PokerStars Championship presented by Monte-Carlo Casino® is only the first leg of the MonteDam Swing and there will be two more opportunities for points up north in the Netherlands for WPT Amsterdam featuring WPTDeepStacks. Remember, in order to be eligible for MonteDam Swing leaderboard prizes, a player must cash in one of the qualifying events in each location.
