Los Angeles, CA (March 30, 2017) – World Poker Tour® today announced WPT® Amsterdam as the first European event of Season XVI, taking place May 5-13 at Holland Casino Amsterdam.
The WPT Amsterdam €3,300 Main Event runs May 9-13, with two starting flights and one reentry per flight.
In addition to the World Poker Tour returning to the Netherlands for the third consecutive season, WPT Amsterdam features the debut of the first European season for WPTDeepStacks™. The WPTDeepStacks Amsterdam €1,500 Main Event kicks off the festival and runs May 5-8, beginning strategic global expansion for poker’s premier mid-major tour.

With the expansion of WPTDeepStacks to Europe with its first event as part of the WPT Amsterdam festival, the World Poker Tour also announced a standalone WPTDeepStacks Player of the Year program for the region. The player who accumulates the most points during WPTDeepStacks main events, according to the scoring system, will be crowned the WPTDeepStacks European Player of the Year. Not only will the winner be crowned WPTDeepStacks European Player of the Year, but he or she will earn a package that includes €15,000 in buy-ins to WPT Main Tour events in Europe, a €5,000 WPTDeepStacks Europe sponsorship package for WPTDeepStacks Main Events in the region, and a custom trophy.
The WPTDeepStacks Amsterdam champion will earn a seat into the season-ending WPTDeepStacks event in Europe, plus €500 for travel expenses.
More events in Europe for both the World Poker Tour and WPTDeepStacks will be announced soon.
Holland Casino is located in the heart of Amsterdam, between the Leidse square entertainment district and the museum district. Holland Casino Amsterdam boasts 40 poker tables, 37 live-gaming tables, state-of-the-art slot and video machines, lively bars, and celebrated restaurants.
The Season XVI WPT Amsterdam schedule contains a two-day €6,000 High Roller that runs May 8-9, plus several other great tournaments such as the €750 Pot-Limit Omaha, €550 Crazy Pineapple, and €2,000 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo.
