POY Trophy_2In what’s become a very rare occurrence on tour this season, Matt Salsberg failed to finish in the money at the recently concluded PartyPoker WPT Canadian Spring Championship and, as a result, was unable to stretch his lead over Paul Volpe in the WPT Player of the Year race.

Heading into the season’s final tournament – next week’s WPT World Championship at Bellagio – Salsberg is just 175 points ahead of Volpe and has just a 725 point lead over Paul Klann who can still make a run for the title from his current third-place position.

With bragging rights on the line, we expect the Hollywood producer to provide a dramatic finish to one of the tightest Player of the Year races in WPT history.
