Los Angeles, CA (March 22, 2016) – The historic WPT® Tournament of Champions kicks off April 22 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood FL, and World Poker Tour® today announced nearly $200,000 in added cash and prizes, along with the addition of the Action Clock created by Protection Poker.

The rake-free, $15,000 buy-in WPT Tournament of Champions will feature a $100,000 cash overlay, and in addition to the lion’s share of the prize pool, the winner will earn:*

– A special Hublot® watch
– An Aurae® Solid Gold MasterCard
– A pair of gold Monster® 24K Headphones
– A custom premium poker table from BBO Poker Tables
– A seat in Tiger’s Poker Night Presented by World Poker Tour
– A round of golf at the world-class Shadow Creek Golf Course with Matt Savage and two friends

More prizes will be announced in the coming weeks, creating an even larger overlay and great value for all members of the WPT Champions Club.

After consulting with several WPT Champions Club members, the WPT Tournament of Champions will be played with the Action Clock created by Protection Poker. The addition of a 30-second shot clock will help ensure an efficient pace of play and inject an added level of strategy for the WPT Tournament of Champions. Each player will receive five, 30-second time extensions that they can use at any time leading up to the final table. At the televised final table, all six players will reset with four, 30-second extensions.

“It is our goal to elevate the WPT Tournament of Champions, creating an extraordinary season-ending event to celebrate the members of the WPT Champions Club and the rich legacy of the World Poker Tour,” said WPT President and CEO Adam Pliska. “With a significant overlay of cash and prizes the WPT has immediately increased the value of being a WPT Champions Club member, and we will crown two more winners prior to the WPT Tournament of Champions during the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown festival.”

WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage adds, “I have always believed that being a member of the WPT Champions Club is an incredible honor. The World Poker Tour has added a lot of cash and great prizes to the rake-free WPT Tournament of Champions, and there is even more to come. I have to admit that I am extremely jealous not to be an eligible member of the WPT Champions Club.”
